So What is Over In The Meadow? It’s my attempt at having the perfect curriculum! I have loved the Waldorf pedagogy but being a Christian has made elements of Anthroposophy, which Waldof is based on, problematic. I also didn’t like the fact that most of the books have to be bought and that can be really, really expensive. I also loved the Charlotte Mason movement but I didn’t like the fact that it was based on the earlier the better idea of teaching kids which I didn’t agree with based on my reading from both Waldorf sources and Christian Homeschool Pioneer Dr. Raymond Moore who wrote a great book called “Better Late Than Early”.
So this is my place where I keep all my info and resources for me and now for you…FREE! I have used only public domain books, most of which are from early in the 20th century. Now you may ask yourself why would I include such antiquated books? I mean don’t I want my kids to have all the new technology etc? Well as you know, if you follow Waldorf at all you know that TV & media is greatly discouraged. All of the books from the earlier century do not include any TV or media and they are not dumbed down the way so many books now are. If that wasn’t enough to convince you, books from the turn of the century usually include references to God quite frequently so you get the best of both worlds.
This is an ongoing process for me so you’ll want to check back as I update info and…if you have something that you think I can use than by all means leave me a comment!
